Protecting Saltisford’s Canal Edge
This page explains the essential safety works currently being planned for a short section of the visitor moorings at Saltisford, and how you can support the long-term care of the site.

Why is work needed at the visitor moorings?
A short section of the canal edge has begun to fail, allowing ground behind the steel piling to wash away. This has caused the adjacent path to settle, creating a hazard. These works are safety critical. The Trust will install a new line of steel sheet piling, together with waling and tie backs, to secure the canal bank and protect the path and moorings.
Can I help support the works?
Yes, and that would be much appreciated. For instance, you can sponsor one or more of the steel piling sheets used in the repair for £100 each, or make a general donation.
Your support helps the Trust recover the cost of essential safety works and rebuild funds for future maintenance.
You can donate online via secure card payment, by bank transfer, or in person at the Saltisford office using card or cash.
How will my donation be recognised?
Companies and individuals can be acknowledged on the Trust’s website, Saltisford's Facebook page and project news updates if they wish, but of course supporters can also choose to remain anonymous.
Sponsors of piling sheets will have a plaque with their name attached to the new waterway wall.
How can I see what's happening
