FAQs

What are Saltisfords opening hours?

From the 1st of April until the 31st of October the site and all its access gates are open 7 days a week from about 8.30 until 5.00pm as is the shop and visitor centre.

During our winter mooring period from the 1st of November until the 31st of March, the Birmingham Rd gate opposite St Michaels Rd and the main gate on Budbrooke Road, are open 7 days a week but the shop and visitor centre is closed at the weekends.

What is there to do?

Saltisford is a beautiful and peaceful place to spend some time. The gardens and orchards are for everyone to enjoy.

It's also home to 3 of the remaining ice breakers from the 1700's as well as NB 'Chiltern', an original 1940's working boat. You can walk through the engine room and see the original back cabin laid out for tea.

Around the site you will see QR codes which you can scan with your phone. The  audio tours tell of the arm, its history and its wildlife.

Of course, Saltisford lies close to the heart of the historic town of Warwick so Click here to find some of the things you can do in the area.

Where can I get a cup of tea?

While we do not currently sell hot drinks in our visitor centre, we do sell cold drinks, sweets and ice cream.

For somerthing a bit more substantial, why not visit our friends at the Hatton Locks Cafe who are just a 40 minute walk up the Grand Union.

Can I bring my dog?

We love dogs and they are more than welcome, as long as they are kept on a lead at all times and you clean up after them.

Pop along and see Emily Breeze, our official meet and greeter, and get a doggy treat in the office.

Do you run any events?

Saltisford hosts events every year.

In the past we've  worked with Warwick's library service, the museum service and in 2025 it was Saltisford's 40th Anniversary.

We list upcoming events on the website in the News section so please check in regularly.

Are there any safety concerns?

The safety of our visitors is a top priority. There is a 'no cycling' policy on site for this reason. All children are the responsibility of their parent or guardian. Canals are not generally very deep, but they can be dangerous, so please act responsibly and stay SAFE and Stay Away From the Edge.
