Protecting the Saltisford Canal Arm
The Saltisford Canal Arm is a living piece of Warwick's waterway heritage, and keeping it in good condition is an ongoing responsibility. This page explains some planned maintenance works at the visitor moorings and how the Trust is approaching the longer-term care of the site's canal infrastructure.
Why is work needed at the visitor moorings?
A short section of the canal edge has begun to deteriorate, allowing ground behind the steel piling to shift. This has caused some settlement of the adjacent path. The Trust is planning to install new steel sheet piling to secure the canal bank and protect the path and moorings. Work will be carried out safely and in a managed way as part of our programme of ongoing site maintenance.
Can I help support the works?
The Trust is developing a blended funding approach to cover these and future infrastructure works, and community support plays a valued part in that. If you'd like to contribute, you're welcome to make a general donation or sponsor one of the steel piling sheets used in the repair for £100. Every contribution, large or small, helps sustain this special place for future generations.
How will my donation be recognised?
Companies and individuals can be acknowledged on the Trust's website and Facebook page if they wish, or supporters can choose to remain anonymous. Those sponsoring piling sheets will be recognised with a named plaque on the new waterway wall.
